From Allstate Sueño Alianza to U-17 FIFA World Cup in Brazil
Santiago Muñoz from El Paso, TX and Nicolás Carrera, from Dallas TX will be participating in the U-17 FIFA World Cup in Brazil in 2019 for the Mexican and US National teams respectively. Both Muñoz and Carrera were discovered via free tryout at the Allstate Sueño Alianza Showcase in El Paso.
Muñoz was signed to Santos Laguna after the 2017 El Paso tryouts with Alianza. He is currently the top scorer in the U-17 category. Similarly, Carrera tried out in 2016 at the El Paso Showcase and currently plays for FC Dallas Academy.
Muñoz and Carrera aren’t the first Allstate Sueño Alianza Pro Players to participate on the world stage. In 2013, Julio Morales represented Mexico during the U-20 FIFA World Cup, as well Edwin Lara who played for hte Mexican team at the U-17 level in 2015.
