LOCAL PLAYERS SHOW THEIR TALENT IN ALLSTATE SUEÑO ALIANZA NEW YORK
New York soccer talent came to light during Allstate Sueño Alianza’s seventh tryouts, which took place in the city’s Randall’s Island Park. Now, three young players have earned their ticket to the Allstate Sueño Alianza National Showcase, which will be held this September in Los Angeles.
Johue Elias Damas, Fernando Coate and Mathew Tejeda stood out among more than 450 players that came to tryout against elite teams from Liga MX, such as Cruz Azul and Pachuca, as well as New York Red Bulls from MLS.
Selecting the winners was no easy task for the attending scouts, but the talent and unyielding determination of Johue, Fernando and Mathew got them through to the next stage as the top contenders in their respective categories. Neither the summer heat, nor the accumulated fatigue were able to deter these dedicated players; they came in strong and left having served up the performance of a lifetime.
Johue Elias Damas from the U-14 category, Fernando Coate from the U-17 category and Mathew Tejeda from the U-20 category were selected among the 48 top finalists as the best in their city, while the remaining 45 finalists still have the possibility of being selected in September for the Allstate Sueño Alianza National Showcase.
In U-14, Johue Elias Damas, from Baltimore, MD, is a forward. From the U-17 category, Fernando Coate, from Bronx, NY plays as a defender. And from the U-20’s, Mathew Tejada is a forward from Alexandria, VA.
The following players also received professional invitations from the attending scouts: Johue Elias Damas (Pachuca), Joshua Muñoz, (Cruz Azul), Giovanni Marquina (Cruz Azul), Mario Sarguero (NY Red Bulls), Brian Fructuoso (NY Red Bulls), Fernando Coate (Cruz Azul & NY Red Bulls), Mathew Tejeda (Cruz Azul & Pachuca) and Nestor Cabrera (Pachuca & NY Red Bulls).
This was the seventh stop during the 2019 Allstate Sueño Alianza Tour. Rest easy, there’s more to come on August 17, where the tryouts will continue in Los Angeles, CA.
