Dallas soccer talent came to light during Allstate Sueño Alianza’s fourth tryouts, which took place in the city’s Moneygram Soccer Complex. Now, three young players have earned their ticket to the Allstate Sueño Alianza National Showcase, which will be held this September in Los Angeles.

John Zelaya, Ricardo Rodgers and Armando Aguilar stood out among more than 500 players that came to tryout against elite teams from Liga MX, such as Chivas, Pachuca and Santos Laguna, as well as FC Dallas from MLS.

Selecting the winners was no easy task for the attending scouts, but the talent and unyielding determination of John, Ricardo and Armando got them through to the next stage as the top contenders in their respective categories. Neither the summer heat, nor the accumulated fatigue were able to deter these dedicated players; they came in strong and left having served up the performance of a lifetime.

John Zelaya from the U-14 category, Armando Aguilar from the U-17 category and Ricardo Rodgers from the U-20 category were selected among the 48 top finalists as the best in their city, while the remaining 45 finalists still have the possibility of being selected in September for the Allstate Sueño Alianza National Showcase.

In U-14, John Zelaya, from Mount Pleasant, TX, is a midfielder. From the U-17 category, Armando Aguilar, from Lewisville, TX plays as a midfielder. And from the U-20’s, Ricardo Rodgers is a forward from Dallas, TX.

The following players also received professional invitations from the attending scouts: John Zelaya (Pachuca), Joaquín Carrillo (Santos Laguna) and Kevin del Hoyo (FC Dallas).

This was the fourth stop during the 2019 Allstate Sueño Alianza Tour. Rest easy, there’s more to come on June 29, where the tryouts will continue in Denver, CO.
