UNDISCOVERED HISPANIC YOUTH SOCCER PLAYER RECEIVES 21 PROFESSIONAL INVITATIONS AT THE ALLSTATE SUEÑO ALIANZA NATIONAL SHOWCASE
The 2019 Allstate Sueño Alianza National Showcase had an unprecedented event this past weekend when David Zavala, a forward from Grand Rapids, MI, broke the record for the highest number of professional invitations ever offered to a youth player. Zavala received 21 invitations from LaLiga MX, MLS, USL clubs as well as from the national teams of Mexico and the US.
From September 26-30, Zavala was one of the 50 players competing at the Allstate Sueño Alianza tryouts held during the National Showcase in Los Angeles. During the 2019 national tour, more than 5,000 players registered for the program and were narrowed down to the final 50.
In addition to his incredible soccer talent, Zavala also received the Top Scholar Athlete Award from the ACCESS U Foundation for his academic performance and GPA of 4.0 from Grand Rapids Mandatory High School.
“David is a smart and creative player. During the Allstate Sueño Alianza National Showcase he had an amazing performance that got the attention of all the participating teams”, mentioned Hugo Pérez, US Soccer Legend and FMF Official Scout. “For his age, he is a very mature player with an amazing personality that has a great potential to become professional”.
“I feel very happy of the opportunity to demonstrate my soccer skills during the Allstate Sueño Alianza National Showcase”, said David Zavala. “This is a dream and I’m enjoying the moment with my friends and family. I still don’t know where I would like to play in the future”.
In 2013, Jonathan González received 13 professional invitations during the Allstate Sueño Alianza National Showcase, while in 2018, his brother Adrian González received 15. Now, David Zavala holds the record with 21.
