Colorado Springs: Matias Sanchez Memorial Tournament
Over the past 20 years, Alianza has grown into the leading Hispanic soccer program in the United States. That journey has been driven by many factors: the trust of our community, a relentless passion for the game, and the dedication of countless individuals who helped build Alianza every step of the way.
Among those individuals, Matías Sánchez will always hold a special place in our story.
Matías was a man deeply passionate about soccer who achieved his dream of playing professionally for his beloved Chivas. After his playing career, he made Colorado his home and became a pillar of the local soccer community across the state.
For Alianza, his impact was immeasurable. He first joined our events as a referee, later became referee assignor, and eventually served as the local manager for all Alianza events in Colorado. He was a cornerstone of our program and played a vital role in our growth throughout the region.
Words will never fully express our gratitude for everything Matías gave to the soccer community he loved so deeply. He led with strength, passion, and a noble heart that touched everyone around him.
A few months ago, we said goodbye to Matías, but his legacy will forever live on through the community he helped build.
To honor his memory, this year’s event in Colorado Springs will proudly carry his name.
Thank you, Matías.
