A Memorable Start: Chevron Soccer Academy 2025 Debuts in Los Angeles

The 2025 Chevron Soccer Academy season, in partnership with Alianza de Futbol, officially kicked off this past weekend (June 7 - 8), and Los Angeles brought the heat. With support from Chevron and local MLS team LAFC, the first stop was packed with energy, talent, and unforgettable moments on and off the field.

Over 370 players and their families participated across the weekend, enjoying two full days of soccer, community, and opportunity — all completely free.

Saturday started strong with a youth clinic for 198 boys and girls ages 9 to 15, who trained alongside true legends of the game: Juan Pablo Ángel, former Premier League and MLS star, and Amy Rodriguez, two-time Olympic gold medalist and World Cup champion. Both shared their knowledge, passion, and a powerful message: your dreams are valid, and the work starts now.

Sunday turned up the intensity with competitive tryouts for 173 players ages 15 to 18. With scouts on-site from LAFC, Chivas, Pachuca, Cerritos College, and U.S. Soccer, the stakes were high — and many players walked away with real opportunities:

  • 2 players earned Access U invitations
  • 5 players received Alianza Fast Passes
  • 6 players were identified by scouts and invited to future training opportunities as part of ongoing recruitment.

From the first whistle to the final handshake, the weekend was a powerful reminder of why we do this: to create real chances, build community, and grow the game for the next generation.
